ST. Cheap New Jersey Devils Gear . PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild found some relief and satisfaction after their first game of the new year. The Buffalo Sabres were the perfect tonic. Jason Pominville scored against his old team, and the Wild beat the Sabres 4-1 on Thursday night to stop a franchise-record streak of six straight losses in regulation. Re-establishing their style and regaining the ground they lost will take some time, but for the Wild this was a strong start. "I cant express how good it feels to get that monkey off our back," defenceman Clayton Stoner said. Marco Scandella scored, just 106 seconds before Pominville. Jason Zucker had the third goal in the second period against Ryan Miller, one of the three goalies recently picked for the U.S. Olympic team. "Ryans been playing really good, and we didnt give him an effort in front of him," captain Steve Ott said. The Wild sure werent feeling sorry for anyone. They won for the first time since Dec. 17, and Niklas Backstrom picked up a victory for the first time in his last nine starts since Nov. 23. With Josh Harding sitting out with an illness, Backstrom stopped 19 shots. "Thats something we have to build on," Backstrom said. "I think thats the first step." Miller made 28 saves, not nearly enough for a Sabres team with by far the worst record and fewest goals in the NHL. They were nearly shut out for the second straight game, following a 3-0 loss at Winnipeg on Tuesday, but Matt Ellis knocked in a loose puck in front of the net with 1:12 left. "I think teams see what we have to offer, adjust, and we dont make any adjustments," Miller said. "We have to be adaptable." The Wild entered the night with the second-lowest scoring average in the league, so naturally the first goal came more than 24 1/2 minutes into the game. Scandella flashed a big smile after he beat defenceman Christian Ehrhoff to the slot and turned a pass from Matt Cooke into his first goal in 13 games. Then Pominville, who had the game-winner in October when these teams met in Buffalo, scored against his former teammate by using a snap shot to sneak the puck between Millers glove and the post. Zucker, playing on an all-21-year-old second line with Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund, stretched the lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the season. He was recalled on Wednesday from Iowa of the AHL for the fourth time since Nov. 20. "We didnt do anything special, but we did all the little things right," Pominville said. Ten Wild players had points, including two assists each for Ryan Suter and Mikko Koivu, after coach Mike Yeo shook up his lineup yet again. Suter and Jonas Brodin were split up on defence, too. Even Kyle Brodziak scored, for the first time in 31 games since Oct. 26. He was awarded the goal with 26 seconds left when he was tripped just past the blue line with an empty net in front of him. Yeo praised Koivu, Pominville and new linemate Dany Heatley for their leadership. "If they had a tough shift, they got right back to it, got it right the next shift," Yeo said. "They play an important role on our team. We need them to continue to go out and perform." Yeos job has been put in jeopardy by the skid that began around Thanksgiving and kept up all the way through New Years Eve. The Wild improved to 6-12-1 in their last 19 games with their first regulation win in 11 games since Dec. 8. The Sabres already fired their coach, replacing Ron Rolston with Ted Nolan on Nov. 13. The results havent been much better, though. They fell to 0-9-2 in their last 11 road games and have only one regulation win away from Buffalo all season. This mightve been their worst game under Nolan. "If it wasnt it had to be pretty close. Its just one of those things where when were bad, were bad," Nolan said. NOTES: The Sabres lost here for the first time in four games since Dec. 13, 2003. Theyre 5-2 at Xcel Energy Center since it opened. ... Wild D Keith Ballard was a healthy scratch for the first time this season. ... Sabres RW Drew Stafford left the game with an upper-body injury. LW Ville Leino was scratched because of a lower-body injury. ... The Sabres have not gone without a goal in consecutive games since Oct. 9 and 11, 2003. Authentic Ken Daneyko Jersey . And Richard Bachman, their rookie goalie, is facing a penalty shot a few seconds after the opening face-off. No pressure, right? Bachman stood his ground against Zack Kassian and saw the puck dribble off the Canuck rookies stick, then settled in and backstopped the Stars to a 5-2 win over Vancouver Tuesday that put Dallas in first place in the Pacific Division. Authentic Eric Gryba Jersey . If Vettel wins at Suzuka on Sunday, and his nearest rival Fernando Alonso finishes worse than eighth, the German driver will join his compatriot Michael Schumacher and Argentine Juan-Manuel Fangio as the only men to win four consecutive titles. http://www.cheapnhldevilsjerseysauthentic.com/?tag=authentic-jamie-langenbrunner-jersey .J. -- The New York Jets have promoted Tony Sparano Jr.DENVER -- Zack Greinke challenged baseballs hottest hitter. The Los Angeles right-hander won the battle with Troy Tulowitzki and the Dodgers went on to win the game. Greinke pitched eight solid innings, Juan Uribe hit the go-ahead single in the ninth inning and Los Angeles beat the Colorado Rockies 3-2 Thursday night. Uribe finished with three of the Dodgers six hits. Los Angeles moved into first place in the NL West, a half-game ahead of San Francisco, which lost to St. Louis on Thursday. "It feels good where were at, and its where we want to be," manager Don Mattingly said. Greinke (11-4) got the win despite giving up the lead in the eighth inning. His teammates rallied in the ninth off reliever LaTroy Hawkins to help Greinke tie for the major league lead in victories. "Anytime you can give up two runs at this park is special," first baseman Adrian Gonzalez said. Kenley Jansen worked the bottom of the inning to get his NL best 26th save in 29 chances. Justin Morneau and DJ LeMahieu had two hits apiece for the Rockies, who have lost four straight and 15 of 17 to move within a half-game of last place in the NL West. It looked like Greinke might go the distance. He needed just 82 pitches through seven innings with Los Angeles was leading 2-1. But the Rockies rallied in the eighth. Charlie Blackmon led off with a single and one out later Morneau tripled to right-centre to tie the game 2-2. Tulowitzki, who entered the game hitting a major league-best .351, came to the plate with a chance to put Colorado ahead. Mattingly came out to talk strategy, and walking Tulowitzki wasnt considered. "We wanted to get after him," Mattingly said. "Not to give in, pitch him tough." Greinke started with a 93 mph fastball for a strike, and after Tulowitzki looked at two balls he popped out to shallow left field. "It wasnt really the plan. I was trying to get a soft grounder," Greinke said. "It worked, but it wasnt how we drew it up." After an intentional walk to Corey Dickerson, Greinke struck out Nolan Arenado with a high fastball. "It was a total ball. I got a little overly anxious," Arenado said. "I knew he was coming arouund middle-in and I just over swung a little bit. New Jersey Devils Outlet Store. . Bad pitch to swing at." Greinke went eight innings for just the second time this season. He allowed two runs -- one earned -- on nine hits, struck out eight and walked just two. It was the 37th straight game a Dodgers starter has walked two or fewer. "We were joking it was going to be tough to (keep going) in Colorado and then having to intentionally walk someone," Greinke said. "That would have been awful to lose it on an intentional walk." The Dodgers got the winning run in the top of the ninth. Matt Kemp worked a leadoff walk off Hawkins (2-2), went to second on Scott Van Slykes groundout and scored when Uribe singled under the glove of second baseman LeMahieu. "I didnt see it off the bat too well. By the time I saw it, I felt it was kind of by me," LeMahieu said. "Its a play I feel like I still (should) make." Colorado lefty Franklin Morales was making his first start since allowing six runs in 5 1-3 innings at Cleveland on May 31. He made eight relief appearances in June, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 14 innings. He was pressed into his 12th start after right-hander Jhoulys Chacin went on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Morales worked five innings, allowing an RBI single to Gonzalez in the third and a sacrifice fly to A.J. Ellis in the fourth to make it 2-0. He surrendered two runs -- one earned -- on four hits and struck out four. The Rockies got one back in the fifth when LeMahieu reached second when Yasiel Puig misplayed his two-out single. LeMahieu scored on Josh Rutledges pinch-hit double. NOTES: The Dodgers recalled INF Erisbel Arruebarrena from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned INF Carlos Triunfel to the Isotopes. ... Before the game, the Rockies activated Arenado from the 15-day DL and optioned LHP Christian Friedrich to Triple-A Colorado Springs. ... Colorado manager Walt Weiss said LHP Boone Logan could be activated from the 15-day DL "in a day or two." ...
